One of life’s great pleasures is travelling. From short weekend breaks to long-planned and prepared for getaways – you can’t beat packing your bags and heading off to parts unknown.

 

My name is Ivan, and I have always loved the thought of travelling – I must have watched every travel film ever made, and my collection of guide books is huge. What with raising a family, I didn’t get to do much travelling until I retired, but once I had – you couldn’t hold me back.

 

When the opportunity came to go for a seven week trip to Europe, I couldn’t wait. Itinerary in hand, my wife Shirley and I set off on a series of journeys that we remember to this day.

 

We visited so many countries, both overland and with a two week river cruise. We took hundreds of photos, enjoyed all the different foods on offer, drank some of the best wines and beers we ever tasted, met some great people along the way, and had an awesome, though exhausting time. The trip had so many highs, and even having to lug two oversized bags onto trains which didn’t have any space for them all seemed just part of the fun of travelling.

 

Covid and a few other things got in the way of more trips, but with the memory of the great times we had, I can’t wait to plan our next journey.
